About the Phoenix Robotics:

Phoenix Robotics, Team 3939 was founded in 2011 to continue the excitement of our long time FIRST Lego League teams. We are located in Botetourt County, Virginia and serve middle and high school students from all schools in the county.

By our involvement in FRC and FLL, the goal is to inspire our team members and the community to be leaders in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). We are fortunate to have mentors from various disciplines and areas of expertise, including teaching, engineering (mechanical, robotics, electrical), computer science, business leaders, among others.

Our goal is to increase interest in science and technology in our schools and throughout Southwest Virginia. Most of our members are veterans of our FLL teams that are hosted at both middle schools. Our FRC team members mentor our FLL teams and continue the relationship started for many of us in the 6th grade!!

About FIRST:

FIRST was founded in 1989 by the renowned inventor Dean Kamen. The goal of FIRST is to inspire students to careers in math, science, and technology through a fun and engaging robotics competition. This competition provides students the opportunity for one-on-one engagement with industry leaders and engineers.

The initial FIRST Robotics Competition comprised of 28 teams competing in a New Hampshire high school gymnasium. The ensuing years brought rapid growth to the program, to include over 35,000 students, 2,000 teams from 11 countries, competing at over 50 District and Regional Events, culminating with the World Championship Event in St. Louis, MO.
